What’s your role at White Marble?
I am a marketing assistant, handling lots of tasks on sustainability. This includes marketing for B Corp and identifying where we can strengthen ourselves for our recertification in a few years.
What prior experience do you bring?
I have a background mainly in sustainability and research. I have worked in several roles that allowed me to be a self-starter and become a one-person team, so adjusting to a team like White Marble has been a fun experience. Once I got my master’s degree, I began working for a biosafety firm. That led to working for an environmental consulting firm based in South Africa and then a climate tech investment firm when I came to New York. And from there… well here I am!
What’s your favourite hobby or pastime?
It’s hard to choose one thing. I am kind of a jack of all trades, master of none type. I enjoy all forms of art, painting, portrait photography, writing science fiction, digital illustrations, sewing, jewellery making, etc. I am also an active biker, boxer, hiker, and a decent swimmer, but I am also a couch potato who loves good books and video games. Give me a good open-world rpg and I’ll be set.
What’s a fun fact about you?
I have worked several odd jobs in the past. I’ve taught horse lessons and worked as a groom for the wildly wealthy, worked for a natural food store that may have been a secret cult, worked through college as an extra in films where I met 50 cent and got to help Robert De Niro out of a pool, I starred in a Spider-Man web series as Felicia Hardy aka the Black Cat, I was signed to an agency where I got to do a lot of bridal, beauty, and commercial modeling, lived in the South African bush for over a month doing wildlife research, aided in research for a biosafety firm and got a firsthand look at what covid would be in 2019, I was an amateur boxer, video game beta tester, managed a farmers market and drove a cargo van around NYC, and probably the worst experience ever… I was an elf on a Santa set during the holiday season.
What’s a pet peeve of yours?
Slow walkers and sidewalk blockers. Unless you have some reason you cannot walk fast or you take up a little more room, move out of the way. Are families of 5 blocking the whole sidewalk? Nah. It’s New York, we have places to be, pick up the pace!
What can’t you live without?
My cat, my friends, my family, art, and overpriced lattes.
