Firms likely to 'retreat' from event sponsorship in wake of Baillie Gifford protests

Our CEO, Twink Field, was was asked to contribute to Ignites Europe's recent article on the Baillie Gifford protests that have been happening at the Edinburgh Book Festival.

Asset managers have been scaling back on their sponsorship of events for several years. Twink commented that more recently the industry has been more focused on supporting local charities and communities.

She says "vilifying" companies trying to lead change will increase greenhushing, which sees firms under-communicate or bury their sustainable credentials.

"It will also discourage many financial firms from supporting many important industries and parts of society, which often depend on private support and funding, for fear of brand damage."
